Gift Card Report
Gift Card Report shows each salon's gift card revenue next to its total collections for a date range. Below the salon table, an interactive section breaks the same numbers down by item, by member status, and over time, so you can see what's selling, who's buying, and when the cards get redeemed.
Find it under Reports → Salon Reports → Legacy.
Gift Card Report covers The Lash Lounge locations only for now. It isn't available for Bishops or Frenchies.
Running it
Pick a date range (use one of the presets or set custom dates — the default is the trailing 12 months) and, optionally, one or more salons from the multi-select. Leave the salon field empty to run every salon you have access to. Click Run Report.
The KPI strip at the top summarizes the whole run: Gift Card Revenue, % of Total Collections, Purchases, Member share of purchases, and Redemptions. Export downloads the report — the salon table and an item breakdown as a two-sheet workbook.
The interactive section
Three panels sit above the salon table, and they all read from the same numbers the table shows — clicking on any of them narrows what the charts (not the table) display:
- Gift cards by item — a ranked bar chart of the top gift card items sold, by revenue, with the number of purchases shown alongside each bar. Click a bar to filter the other panels down to that item; click it again to clear the filter.
- Member vs. non-member — a stacked bar showing the split of purchases (and the revenue behind them) between clients who held an active membership on the day they bought the card and those who didn't. Click a segment to filter by member status.
- Gift card revenue by date — a line/area chart of gift card revenue over the selected range, with a Day / Week / Month toggle for granularity and a switch to overlay Redemptions on the same timeline.
Click a row in the salon table to add or remove that salon from the chart selection (selected rows are highlighted; use Clear selection to reset). The three charts above recompute for whichever salons are selected — the salon table itself always shows every salon in the run, with a "filtered by" chip noting any item or member filter in effect.
Columns
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Gift Card Revenue | All gift cards sold in the date range, at the amount actually paid for them — every form of payment counts. It always equals the five funding columns added together. |
| Cash / card | The part of Gift Card Revenue paid with a card, cash, bank transfer, Apple Pay or a check — the same forms of payment that make up Total Collections. This is the amount % of Total is worked out from. |
| From account | Gift cards paid from the client's account balance. That money was counted in Total Collections on the day it was deposited, so Cash / card plus From account is not new money for the range. |
| By gift card | A gift card bought with another gift card. The cash came in when the first card was sold. |
| Comped | Complimentary and comp/redo — cards issued with no payment received. |
| Other tenders | Anything that doesn't fit the four buckets above (rewards program, donations, trade accounts, the point of sale's literal "Other"). Hover the cell to see which ones. Fleet-wide this is under half a percent of gift card revenue. |
| Face value | The value actually loaded onto the cards sold, from the point of sale's gift card ledger — so a "Buy $100, get $115" card counts $115 here and $100 in Gift Card Revenue. A card given away for nothing counts its full loaded value here. Returned cards are left out. |
| Discount | Face value minus Gift Card Revenue: the bonus value and any line discount a promotion gave away on the cards sold in the range, plus the full value of any card given away for nothing. |
| Total Collections | The same overall collections figure used across the rest of the platform for that salon and period — the dashboard's headline number, not a gift-card-specific total. |
| % of Total | Cash / card as a share of Total Collections — both counted from the same payment types. Blank when there are no total collections to divide by. The ratio for every form of payment (all gift card revenue over Total Collections) is in the export as % of Total (all tenders). |
| Purchases | The number of gift cards sold in the range — one per gift card sale line with a positive amount. Returned cards and zero-dollar cards (comps and promotional cards) are not counted as purchases. Units is the quantity on those lines, for the rare sale of several cards on one line. |
| Returned Lines / Returned Revenue | Gift cards refunded or returned in the range, and the dollars involved. Gift Card Revenue is already net of these. |
| Members / Non-Members | Purchases split by whether the buyer was an active member when they bought the card — the same definition as Monthly Salon Metrics: for a past month, their membership autopay ran successfully in the month of the sale and they were not on hold on its last day; for the current month, their membership is Active today. Suspended members and sales with no client on the ticket count as Non-Member. A client who became a member later still counts as Non-Member for that sale. |
| Redemptions | Services and products paid for using a gift card during the range. Tips paid with a gift card are left out, as they are from every other dollar figure in the reports. This is money the salon recognizes when the card is actually spent — it is not counted again in Gift Card Revenue, which only reflects the original sale. |
Reading the numbers
Gift Card Revenue is cash a salon takes in today for services it may deliver weeks or months later, so it moves on its own calendar — most salons see a spike around December as customers buy cards as gifts. Redemptions run the opposite direction: they climb as those same cards get spent, typically in the weeks after a holiday peak. A salon's gift-card % of total collections and its redemption total will often move in opposite seasons rather than together, and that's expected — it isn't a sign anything is wrong with the numbers.
Available on the Salon Reports page (Legacy section) to corporate/admin users and to anyone with reporting access. Data is limited to the locations you have access to — corporate and admin users see the whole system, a location user sees their own salons. Covers The Lash Lounge (Mindbody) locations only.
