Monthly Salon Metrics

Monthly Salon Metrics is one salon's calendar year on a single grid. Every quarter opens into its months, and every month opens into its days, so the same 27 columns read at whichever level you need — a quarter-over-quarter view, a month's close, or one busy Saturday.

Find it under Reports → Salon Reports → Sales.

Bishops shops and Frenchies studios

At Bishops the report is called Monthly Shop Metrics, in Shop Reports, and at Frenchies Monthly Studio Metrics, in Studio Reports, with fewer columns — no membership, full set or suspension columns. See At Bishops and Frenchies.

Running it

Pick a Salon and a Year, then click Run Report. The grid opens with all four quarters expanded to their months; click the caret on a month (or the row itself) to reveal its days. Expand all months and Collapse all at the top of the toolbar do it in one click.

The Total row at the bottom is the whole year. The CSV download exports the rows currently shown — expand the months you want before downloading if you need daily detail.

Columns

The revenue columns show what was sold: services on the day they were performed and retail on the day it was sold, before tax, however the guest paid. Membership dues are not counted on their own; the services they pay for are, on the day of the visit. So a month's Total Revenue here is the work done and products sold in that month, and it is a different figure from Revenue in the Systemwide report and sales on the Sales Dashboard, which count money as it is paid. Visits, Retail %, Avg Revenue per Visit and Revenue / Stylist Hour are the same figures as the Systemwide report. New Clients, Starter Full Sets and Stylist Count are defined by what actually happened (a first visit, a first full set, service revenue earned) rather than by how something was booked or who is on the roster — those are called out below.

ColumnWhat it means
Total RevenueServices performed and retail sold in the period, before tax, plus no-show and cancellation fees charged. A visit paid with membership credit, a gift card, a package or account credit counts at its full value. A member of another salon served at yours counts at the value of the credit they used. It is the same figure as Revenue on the Sales Dashboard.
Member RevenueThe part of Total Revenue that came from active members, services and retail together. A guest is an active member in any month their membership autopay goes through, unless they are on hold on that month's last day, and in the month their membership starts. In the month still in progress, this month's payment may not have run yet, so a guest counts when their membership is active today — the same way Active Members is counted for the current month.
Non-Member Service RevenueServices performed for guests who were not active members that month.
Retail RevenueAll retail sold, before tax, whatever paid for it. Card convenience fees are not included.
Member Retail RevenueThe part of Retail Revenue bought by active members. It is also inside Member Revenue.
Non-Member Retail RevenueRetail Revenue bought by everyone else.
No-Show & Cancellation FeesThe charges a guest pays for missing an appointment or cancelling it late, under the salon's booking policy, counted on the day of the missed appointment. A charge the salon later refunds, or a credit the guest later uses for a visit, drops out. Card processing or convenience fees are not part of this column. Member Revenue + Non-Member Service Revenue + Non-Member Retail Revenue + No-Show & Cancellation Fees always add up to Total Revenue.
LY Total Revenue / YOY $ Change / YOY % ChangeThe same period one year earlier, and the change against it.
New ClientsClients whose first-ever visit to the salon fell in the period — the same set as the point of sale's First Visit Report.
Starter Full SetsClients whose first-ever full set at the salon fell in the period and was paid more than $89, whatever it was booked as. A client who came in before for a lift, tint or anything else counts on their first full set, and so does a member. Each client counts once. Systemwide Data uses the same definition. See Full Sets & Starter Full Sets.
Full SetsPaying full sets (at least $1) in the period for clients who weren't members at any point in the 30 days before, first-time or not. Free sets, consultations, redos and add-ons don't count. See what counts as a full set.
Total New MembersMembers whose membership started in the period, who still held it at the end of the period, and who had no membership that ended in the 12 months before. A membership cancelled in the month it started, or before it started, is not counted — see what counts as a new member.
Active MembersMembers who paid dues in the period's last month (a payment of more than $0), were not on hold on that month's last day, and on that day held a membership or were between memberships with the next one already signed. A member who paid and then went on hold later in the month is counted in Suspended Members for that month, not here. Quarter and year rows show their last month; day rows show their month. The current month shows members who are Active today, including a member who has given notice and hasn't reached their termination date, and a member between memberships with the next one already signed.
Suspended MembersMembers who were on suspension at the end of the period — December's row is who was paused on December 31, a day row is that day — taken from the pauses recorded in the point of sale (each pause has a start and end, so a member paused three times in a year is counted in each of those months). A pause with an end date counts through that date. A pause that was never given an end date counts for 180 days from the day it began, and after that only while an autopay is scheduled in the following 180 days — so a suspension abandoned years ago is not a member. A paused membership with a termination date counts until the day before that date. A membership on hold that has passed its end date is Expired and is not counted either. The current month is read as of today, like Active Members, and a member who is Active is not also counted here. This is the same Suspended rule as the Sales Dashboard and Systemwide Data. Active + Suspended Members is the full member base; no member is counted in both.
Member Retention %Active members going into the first of the month who did not terminate during the period, as a share of that count. Most meaningful on a month; on a quarter or the year total it compares a whole period's terminations to a single day's starting count.
TerminationsTrue terminations: members whose membership ended in the period and who did not continue. A member who switches plans or re-signs within 31 days is not counted. See True Terminations.
Net Member ChangeNew members minus terminations minus new suspensions (members who put their membership on hold in the period and were still on hold at its end), plus members returned from pause — the same formula as the Sales Dashboard. A termination of a member who was already on hold when the period began is not subtracted, because their pause already was; it still counts in Terminations.
Unique Visitors / VisitsDistinct clients seen, and total completed visits.
Retail Clients / Visitors Buying Retail %Distinct clients who bought product, and that count as a share of unique visitors.
Retail %Retail sales ÷ service sales, the same Retail % as the Sales Dashboard (see Retail %). It is not Retail Revenue ÷ Total Revenue.
Avg Revenue per VisitTotal Revenue ÷ Visits. The same figure as Avg Revenue per Visit in Systemwide Data.
Revenue / Stylist HourServices and retail sold in the period, before tax, ÷ stylists' clocked hours, so the hours are compared with the work done in them. The same figure as Revenue / Stylist Hour in Systemwide Data and on the Sales Dashboard.
Revenue / StationTotal Revenue ÷ the salon's Number of Stations from its salon settings.
SFS Converted Members / SFS Member Conversion %Starter Full Set clients (as defined above) who became new members in the same period, and that count as a share of Starter Full Sets.
Stylist CountStaff who produced service revenue in the period, whatever their title — someone who only clocked in or only sold retail is not counted.

A dash (—) means there is nothing to divide by for that period — no visits, no revenue last year, no members at the start. It never means zero.

At Bishops and Frenchies: Monthly Shop Metrics and Monthly Studio Metrics

Bishops shops see the report as Monthly Shop Metrics, in Shop Reports, and Frenchies studios as Monthly Studio Metrics, in Studio Reports, on the page and in the CSV file name. Bishops sells no memberships, Frenchies memberships are credit balances the report does not split out, and neither does full sets, so the membership, full set, Starter Full Set and suspension columns are not part of it. The columns are:

ColumnWhat it means at Bishops and Frenchies
Total Revenue, LY Total Revenue, YOY $ / % ChangeServices performed and retail sold, before tax, however the guest paid, plus no-show and cancellation fees charged. It is the same figure as Total Revenue on the Zenoti KPI report, and a different figure from Collections in the Systemwide report, which counts money as it is paid.
Service RevenueServices performed in the period, before tax: Total Revenue minus Retail Revenue minus No-Show & Cancellation Fees. The KPI report's Service Sales.
Retail RevenueRetail sold in the period, before tax, whatever paid for it, with returns taken out. The KPI report's Product Sales.
No-Show & Cancellation FeesThe charges a guest pays for missing an appointment or cancelling it late, under the location's booking policy, counted on the day they were charged. Card processing or convenience fees are not part of this column. The KPI report's no-show and cancellation fee columns, added together.
New ClientsGuests whose first visit on record falls in the period. Records start when the shop went live on its current point of sale, so in that first year returning guests count as new.
Unique Visitors, VisitsGuests seen, and guest-days: a guest with a completed appointment counts once per day, however many services they had. The same count as the Sales Dashboard and the Systemwide report.
Retail Clients, Visitors Buying Retail %, Retail %Guests who bought product, that count as a share of Unique Visitors, and Retail % (retail sales ÷ service sales, as on the Sales Dashboard).
Avg Revenue per VisitTotal Revenue ÷ Visits. The same figure as the Systemwide report.
Revenue / Stylist HourServices and retail sold, before tax, ÷ stylists' clocked hours. The same figure as the Systemwide report and the Sales Dashboard. Blank for periods with no clock records.
Revenue / StationTotal Revenue ÷ the shop's Number of Stations.
Stylist CountStaff who performed a service in the period, whatever their title.

How it compares with the franchisor's export

Stylist Count reconciles to the franchisor's existing Monthly Salon Metrics export, and New Clients reconcile to the point of sale's First Visit Report. Member counts, visit counts, Full Sets and the franchisor's own "Starter Full Sets" are defined differently there and will not match exactly.

Bishops shops and Frenchies studios: periods before staff hours were recorded

Revenue / Stylist Hour needs staff hours. When a period reaches back before the shop's schedule or time-clock records begin, the figure shows a dash. Revenue and visits are still shown. A later month can show a rate while the quarter or year that contains the earlier months shows a dash.

Who sees this

Lives in Salon Reports → Sales, which opens to corporate and admin users, and anyone with reporting access at a location that has Reports enabled. The location picker lists only the locations where you have reporting access and Reports is turned on; access at one of your locations doesn't carry over to another. Covers The Lash Lounge and Bishops Cuts / Color (as Monthly Shop Metrics) locations; not available for Frenchies.
