New report: Budget vs Actual
The budget you upload and the sales your salons record now meet in one report, with the salons furthest behind at the top.
Budget vs Actual is in Draft Reports. It reads the budget set on Franchise Management → System Budget and compares it with what each salon actually sold.
Three views of the same year
- Budget — one row per salon, one column per month, plus a year total.
- Actual — the same shape, filled with what was really sold.
- Budget vs Actual — year-to-date through a month you pick: budget, actual, the gap in dollars and percent, and the same stretch of last year beside it.
The comparison arrives sorted with the largest shortfall first, because "who is furthest behind" is the question the report exists to answer.
Blank means blank
A cell with nothing in it means there is nothing to report for that month — not that the figure is zero. Months that haven't happened yet stay empty on the Actual view instead of reading $0.00, and a salon the workbook never budgeted stays empty rather than looking like a total miss. Year totals follow the same rule, and a part-year comparison says which month it runs through.
It tells you what it couldn't see
Sales arrive from each salon's point-of-sale system on its own schedule, so a note above the table either confirms every salon is current or names the ones still catching up — a salon can look behind on budget simply because its last two days haven't landed yet.
And if the workbook carries budget for a location that doesn't reach any salon, a footnote says so. That is budget in the plan being measured against nothing; the fix is the salon's Franchise ID, not the budget row.
