Retail % now matches your Month-to-Date Sales

Salon Health's Retail % is now calculated on the same cash basis as the Month-to-Date Sales and daily sales figures sitting beside it. Previously it blended two different accounting bases, which nudged the number off — usually a little high.

What changed

Every other number in Salon Health reports cash: money actually collected, by card, cash, ACH, or Apple Pay. Retail % didn't. Its retail figure was cash, but the service figure it was measured against was accrual — the full value of every service performed, whether it was paid for at the register, redeemed from a membership, or drawn down from a prepaid package.

Dividing a cash number by an accrual number produced a ratio that didn't correspond to either basis, and it couldn't be reconciled against the Month-to-Date Sales card.

Retail % is now:

retail collected ÷ (service collected + retail collected)

Both figures come straight from payments, salon-wide, over the dates you've selected.

What you'll notice

  • The math ties out. The denominator now equals your Month-to-Date Sales (minus any package or gift-card purchases, which aren't service or retail). You can check Retail % by hand against the card next to it.
  • The number is fresher. Retail % now reads payments directly instead of waiting on the overnight staff rollup, so a sale you rang this morning is reflected today.
  • Front-desk retail counts everywhere. Retail sold by staff who performed no services that day is included, for every booking system.

What did not change

The Average Stylist Sales section is unchanged. Average Sales Per Visit, service per visit, and retail per visit all still report on the accrual basis — that section measures the work your stylists performed, which is the right basis for that question.

Because the two sections answer different questions, they intentionally use different bases and will not foot to each other.
