New on the Sales Dashboard: Sales — Year Over Year

The Sales Dashboard has a new Sales — Year Over Year section: monthly sales for the current year, side by side with the same months in the two prior years.

Each month shows its change versus the same month last year, so you can separate seasonality from real growth — a slow February matters less when it sits next to two other slow Februaries, and a strong month stands out more when last year's version of it is right there.

A few things worth knowing:

  • The current month is marked as still in progress, and its year-over-year change is held back until the month completes. Comparing twelve days of this month against thirty-one of last year's would always read as a collapse, so we don't.
  • It follows payment timing — the same basis as Salon Health's sales bars, so the totals line up with the figures you already watch.
  • It keeps its own three-year window. The page's date filters don't change it.
  • Chart or table. The section can switch to a table view, and either view can be downloaded as CSV.
  • A month with no recorded sales shows no bar — visibly different from a month that genuinely took in nothing.
  • A trend line runs over each year's bars, making month-to-month movement easier to follow while keeping the side-by-side yearly comparison. Missing months stay gaps rather than being connected, and the current month is left off its trend line until it completes.

You'll find it on the Sales Dashboard, alongside the new Average Sales by Day of Week section.
